introduction
In the past semester, various efforts have been made to slowly get myself ready for the dissertation and graduation project. The motivation behind these efforts is tied to the research focus developed from readings and a lot of thinking — counteracting the linearity and atrophy of language.
Building upon my research, a visual compendium was curated to seek out the shapes, conventions, and mechanisms that make up nonlinear artefacts. As a step toward breaking out of linear textual forms, a series of exercises was carried out to break a source text into fragments and then reconstruct them in different ways. The last portion in this body of work acknowledges the dynamic nature of hypertext and its potential in creating nonlinear modes of reading.
